Description
Tinder pouch of leather and red cloth with brass mountings. [EH [OPS move] 10/8/2017]
Long description
Tinder pouch, roughly rectangular in shape with curved edges. Constructed from a folded piece of leather with a curved steel attached to one edge. The leather is edged with brass strips, which are decorated on the sides and reverse of the pouch with incised repeating leaf patterns. On the folded flap there are two raised square based bosses, and three openwork mounts with red cloth behind. The central mount has two fish or dolphins, connected at the tips of their fins around an oval of openwork foliate design. Suspension bar with two loops through which a curved handle is attached.
