The handwritten inscription on the reverse reads: '9 Mai 1867 à ma chère et bonne amie Jenny. aux pieds de Jésus pensez quelquefois à celle q. vous aime bien. H. Demelle' [9th May 1867 to my dear and good friend Jenny. At the feet of Jesus think sometimes of she who loves you very much.] Originally found inside an envelope with 1985.52.2696-2700, 1985.52.2702-2703 which is now in the Related Documents File.
