- Long description
- Amulet, circular relic box carved from box wood, containing four relics and a circular painted plaque framed behind a glass panel. In the centre of the relic box there is a circular ?plaster plaque with a Sacred Heart painted on it in coloured pigment. This is surrounded by decorative scrolls of paper with gold edges. Nestled into these scrolls are four relics, however the relics are not visible. Over the top of each there is a strip of paper. Printed in black on thow strips of paper are saint's names: 'Fr. de Sales' [St. Francis de Sales], Chantal' [St. Jane Frances de Chantal]. 'Stes Relique' and 'Pâte facr[?]' are on the other two pieces of paper. There is a piece of cotton yarn around the inner edge of the box, on top of the glass. The box looks as though it would once have had a lid. [RB 04/07/2012]
