Research and responses

With reference to date made, Cory Silverstein, a visiting researcher on 21/3/2001 offered the following information: "Green 'stroud' woollen under white unsmoked deer or caribou hide; green stroud not available after 1880, but might be recycled. Some materials not available before 1850 (certain colours of beads and twill lining with cotton warp and woollen weft threads)." She also noted: "The beadwork appears to be Athapascan type - see Kate Duncan book re. metallic 'tips' on flower petals." [LP 27/3/2001]

I would call this a mitten. Gauntlet is OK because it has a cuff, but it should not be classified as 'armour weapon'. - Laura Peers 21/3/2001.
