- Long description
- Amulet, circular wooden relic box [.1], containing saints' relics and with a painted Sacred Heart in the centre, and a detachable lid [.2]. There seem to have been seven saints' relics, nestled on balls of cottonwool fibre, however three appear to be missing as there is no cottonwool or relic in place. There are seven strips of paper with saints' names printed in black on them, one looped over the top of each relic. In the centre of the relic box [.1] there is a Sacred Heart painted onto an oval ?plaster plaque. Surrounding the relics are decorative scrolls of paper, all of which is framed behind a glass panel. The box is carved from wooden and ?painted or ?varnished. [RB 11/06/2012]
