Long description
Amulet, a textile arch shaped portable 'chapel' [.1], containing a painted ?plaster figure of the Virgin Mary, with a removable textile lid [.2]. The portable 'chapel' is a pointed arch shape, and the two parts form a box. The exterior of both the 'chapel' and the lid are covered in a red coloured velvet textile, and the inside is lined with a silk brocade textile. Inside there is a painted ?plaster figure of the Virgin Mary, surrounded by corrugated pieces of paper with gilded edges. The figure is mounted behind a panel of glass. [RB 10/04/2012]
