- Long description
- Amulet, ceramic figure of the Black Madonna of Loreto, with gilding and black paint. Encased in a cardboard container with glass. The cardboard container is edged with yellow paper glued to the glass and cardboard. The glass has some pink staining but the majority is clear. Glued to the reverse there is a strip of paper with a string loop for ?suspension. Inside the container the cardboard has gold leaf metal glued in six dots which would have surrounded the figure. It is clear to see where the figure would have been originally glued to the back. The figure has gold leaf gilding and a painted black face, but is broken in several places with lots of small fragments. [ACA 19/03/2012]
