Long description
Headdress. The headdress is made from three lengths of cotton textile dyed indigo and stitched together. At one end of the headdress there are two lengths of cotton ties. The bottom edge of the headdress is edged with cotton fringing. [FB 08/06/2012]

Calandering makes the indigo dyed cloth shiny and is prized by the Miao. It is done by folding the material and beating it with a wooden mallet on a flay stone. [FB 01/06/2012]
