- Long description
- Carved stone figure, light grey in colour. It depicts a human in a seated position with bent knees drawn up and arms resting on knees. The facial features are exaggerated, with incised lines on the cheeks. There appears to be an animal head placed on top of the human head, with elaborate carving at the sides suggesting the figure is wearing an animal skin with mask on top. The base is perforated in two places for mounting. [JC [OPS Move] 29/6/2017]

- Research and responses
This collection was looked at by Rosemary Joyce on the 2nd of December 2010 as part of the Fell Funded project "Characterising the World Archaeology Collections of the Pitt Rivers Museum'. Rosemary advised that these objects are without doubt examples of 19th century tourist art. So not 'archaeological', but none the less interesting for those looking at tourist art, especially in the 19th century. [FC 05/01/2011]
