First patented in 1851 and made in various calibres, 0.31 in., 0.36 in., 0.45 in.. At one time the only serious competitor to Samuel Colt's virtual monopoly of the revolver market. Manufactured in London originally by Deane-Adams-Deane but later became the Adams-Beaumont company. Producing a single and double action. This weapon was finally adopted by the British Army in 1868, but some of the earliest Adams were used in the Crimea and later in the American civil war, mainly by confederate owners. Reproduction made in Spain. [MdA]
