Description
Embroidered jacket. [FC 28/07/2010]
Long description
Embroidered jacket. The jacket is made from four pieces of loom woven hessian seamed in the centre and loosely stitched together on both sides. The jacket comprises of a sleeveless cape with collar tacked to a collarless underlayer of hessian. The decoration on the cape is made up of strips of red, black, white, yellow and blue appliquéd cotton strips, which surround rectangles and squares embroidered in white, red, orange and green cross stitch motifs. The deceptively complicated design employs embroidered panels, framed within striped boarders. It is unified by the repetition of the same red and green in both elements. [FC 28/07/2010]
