Description
Wooden Norwegian beer bowl. [MOBB [OPS move] 14/10/2016]
Long description
Wooden Norwegian beer bowl. The bowl is made from a dark wood and is oval in shape with two handles carved in the shape of a horse. Across one of the handles a piece of metal has been nailed to the bowl on the inside and the outside. The inside piece of metal has orange rust. The outside of the bowl is cracked in two places under the handle with the metal and a crack is visible on the inside of the bowl on the same side as the outside cracks. The outside of the bowl has been painted with organic and floral shapes in muted black, browns and reds. Along the top of the outside of the bowl words have been inscribed in black italic script, possibly in Latin or Scandinavian Below the handle without the metal a date has been inscribed in black italic script "Dei 1830". The base of the bowl on the outside "FR 1789 O OMSB" has been carved out, this could be an insignia. [FC 26/01/2010]
