Across one of the handles a piece of metal has been nailed to the bowl on the inside and the outside. The inside piece of metal has orange rust. The outside of the bowl is cracked in two places under the handle with the metal and a crack is visible on the inside of the bowl on the same side as the outside cracks. Along the top of the outside of the bowl words have been inscribed in black italic script, possibly in Latin or Scandinavian Below the handle without the metal a date has been inscribed in black italic script "Dei 1830". The base of the bowl on the outside "FR 1789 O OMSB" has been carved out, this could be an insignia. [FC 26/01/2010]
