- Tibetan man's hat with black fur flaps [FC 21/10/2009]
- Long description
- Tibetan man's hat with black flaps. The hat is round and lined with black felt with four fur covered flaps coming down all sides of the hat. The flaps have been covered with black fur on the inside. Two of the flaps are small and the other two larger. The fur trims the outside edges of the flaps, the rest of which is a black felt like material. The hat is decorated with a band of brocaded material 90 mm wide. The brocaded material has been woven in a gold thread and is decorated with flowers which look to have been embroidered on top of the brocade in silver, gold and red. there is one larger flower in the design which has been embroidered in blue yarn. Orange lines outlining swirls of gold are included in the design. Above this material, six gold braids have been stitched, one above the other, around the hat, onto the black felt like material. The braids are approximately 10 mm wide. Two of the braids are curvy. In the centre of the top of the hat is a round disc of the same gold brocaded material which appears as a decorative strip around the centre of the hat. The hat is in good condition. [FC 21/10/2009]
