Research and responses

This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in December 2010. He noted that 2009.50.24 and .26 refer to the same battle and that 2009.50.26 might be a cover for 2009.50.24 as they have the same titles and are the same size. [SM 15/12/2010]

The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2012 as: “Konsei ryodan-cho Oshima shosho Heijo-fu Daidomon kogeki no zu”, Attack to Taedong gate in Pyongyang by mixed brigade lead by Major Oshima. “Meiji 27 nen 9 gatsu 30 nichi insatsu”, Printed on 30 September, 1894 [MJD 26/11/2012]
