Illustrated in black and white as Number IV in Plate CXIV opposite page 76 in Fish Hooks (Pacific Island Records), by Harry G. Beasley (London: Seeley, Service & Co., Ltd, 1928). Beasley writes (page 76) under the heading 'Part II. Papua and Melanesia' and sub-headings 'The Islands of Torres Straits' and 'Mer, or Murray Island' : 'No. 4 differs somewhat from the others, having the end of the shank notched for attachment. It is in the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford, and was obtained by the Cambridge Expedition. [Note 3 refers to Haddon, Cambridge University Expedition, p. 155, vol. iv., 1912.] It measures 5 1/4 in. (13.4 cm.).' [JC 24 6 2016]
