Description
Shadow puppet depicted wearing modern white lace-up shoes. [MdeA 02/06/2009]
Long description
Shadow puppet depicted wearing modern white lace-up shoes. Figure of a man. The man has a white face with a very long nose. He has black hair, the top of which has been folded and slightly damaged. He has red lips, gold teeth and a black moustache. His other facial features have been picked out with black, red and grey paint. His body has been painted mostly in gold. Around his neck a bell has been painted. The arms have been hinged to the body using string at the shoulders and elbows. Around the wrists is a bracelet on each arm painted in red, pink and white. His fingers have been painted with fine black lines. Attached to each hand with string is a wooden stick to control movement. Running down the centre of the puppet is a wooden stick which has been bent in the middle to follow the shape of the puppet's body. This stick is attached to the puppet in three places with string and has been split down the middle. As a result of this the bottom of the stick broadens and has been finished to a point. The puppet has hunched shoulders and a protruding belly. From his waist he is wearing an elaborately decorated sarong of of white gold, red, pink and blue. The sarong is edged with a blue and white and is lined in red. This is worn over black trousers or leggings. Tucked into the sarong is a sword? the black scrolled handle of which protrudes. On his feet he is wearing white lace-up shoes. [FC 12/6/2009]
