This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in December 2010. He noted that the object is a method of payment, similar to a cheque or bank note and is equivalent to 10 grams of silver. It was issued by a local government, not by a bank. [SM 15/12/2010]
This object was examined by Fusa McLynn, who volunteered at the Museum in 2009-2012. Transcribed and translated as “Gin san monme”, Silver 3 monme *monme is an old Japanese currency used. This paper money is called “hansatsu” made by individual feudal clans in their domain [MJD 04/12/2012]
