Description
Pair of woollen socks.
Long description
Pair of woollen socks both with the same design and patterning. The socks are knitted in a dark brown wool yarn with decoration in , grey, orange, green and red wool yarn. The top of each sock has been threaded with a green, red and brown thread to act as a drawstring. On .1 this drawstring has been tied in a knot making the sock tight around the top whereas the drawstring on .2 is still loose. The front and the back of the socks are decorated with geometric designs in orange, green and red. These designs appear in sets of four separated by four bands of simple grey stitched borders. On the front of the socks there are three of these patterns going down to the foot area. The last of the geometric shapes appear in a set of two rather than four. On the back of the socks, two sets of these four geometric shapes are present with no decoration on the sole of the sock, other than a grey border. There is a seam at the heel. On .1, the orange of the geometric patterns is brighter than the orange thread used for .2 for which more red thread and a duller orange has been used. [FC 8/6/2009]
