- Long description
- Woman's skirt made from a single piece of warp faced weave textile. The cloth is predominantly black with a broad central band which is blue with black stripes. The rest of the cloth is woven with narrow blue and red stripes. At both ends of the cloth, running across the full width, is a band of two red and one yellow warp faced weaving or stitching. The central blue section of the cloth is decorated with areas of red and yellow supplementary weft weaving and stitching. The selvages are blue. On one side of the cloth, running inwards from the selvage, are four bands of two red and one yellow weft faced weaving or stitching. These bands each have an approximate maximum length of 145 mm. The warp threads have been twisted together in bunches and tied at the end to form a fringe at both ends of the cloth. [MdeA 12/09/2008]
