- Long description
- Stringed instrument [.1] and bow [.2]. The masinko is a violin-like instrument with a diamond-shaped resonator which has been covered with animal skin. The skin has been stretched and stitched around the resonator. There are signs of local repairs on the upper surface of the skin over the resonator. The neck of the masinko is made of wood and there is a v-shaped wooden bridge. The bridge is perforated and strung onto the horse hair strings. The instrument is strung with horse hair and has a single tuning peg. A leather carrying strap has been tied through a perforation in the neck. The bow [.2] is made of a bent piece of wood strung with horse hair and tied with cotton yarn through a perforation at either end of the wood. [MdeA 10/07/2008]
