Description

Long description
Model canoe, which is made of wood that has been covered with animal hide. The hide has been stitched along the top of the canoe. At the base of the canoe there are two runners or thin strips of bone. These have been attached to the canoe with wooden pegs. There is a figure affixed to the centre of the canoe [2007.40.1 .4] holding a paddle [2007.40.1 .5], behind which is a wooden model of a float lashed to the canoe with a ?leather strip and bone toggle. There is another leather strip with four bone toggles further behind the float. At the front of the canoe there are more leather bindings and bone toggles holding two model spears, where there is also a harpoon line holder and two harpoons [2007.40.1 .2 & .3].
