- Long description
- Leather purse decorated with beadwork. The main body of the purse has been made from a roughly circular piece of yellow coloured leather which has been folded in half. A machine made metal zip has been sewn onto the purse to allow it to be closed. The edges of the purse have been reinforced with strips of yellow leather threaded through perforations which run all along the edges of the two sides of the purse. Both outer sides have been decorated with a semicircle of purple velvet which has been sewn onto the leather. On top of the velvet on each side is a beadwork flower with stem and leaf. The beads used are largely clear but with an iridescent sheen. For the flower orange beads have been used beneath clear ones to add colour to the petals, and brown / yellow beads have been used to depict the stamens of the flower. Only clear iridescent beads have been used on the stem and leaf. [MdeA 11/03/2008]
