Long description
Sheath [.2] made of two pieces of wood bound together with plaited cane strips and painted red. For a sword [1912.31.8 .1] Padded red floral fabric is attached to the top of the sheath using orange yarn, possibly silk. Beneath this, rope is coiled and knotted to make a loop. The top of the sheath has been carved and there is a small hole through one side of the wood. [SM 15/02/2007]
