Description
Metal arrow-head or knife.
Long description
Iron arrow-head or knife. The leaf-shaped blade is 41 mm long and 13 mm wide. It is slightly ridged in along the centre on both sides. The arrow-head is tanged [or if it is a knife then it has a handle]. The length of the tang is approximately 102 mm. At the end of the tang that becomes the blade the tang is barbed with three pairs of barbs made from taking six slivers from the widest part of the tang. The barbed section is approximately 37 mm long and the barbs are approximately 14 mm long. At the opposite end to the blade the tang or handle ends in a flattened section resembling a small flat spoon or spatula. The fact that it is barbed suggests that the object is an arrow-head rather than a knife. However, if the tang end is a spoon or spatula it would make it more likely to be a knife. [MdeA 30/08/2006]
