Research and responses

These 23 bangles [1952.6.13 .1 - .23] were found together on a cylindrical mount covered with red cloth and white paper. They represent a collection of different styles of bangle - some ornamented with white beads, some with foil, some plain lacquer on glass. It is assumed that the accession entry which reads "C.20 banges [tin foil, silvered wire and white beads on lacquer]" does not refer to the composition of each bangle in this group but rather the range of materials used. It is also assumed that the 23 bangles found on this mount are the "c.20" described and that the present grouping relates to the original grouping when the objects were first accessioned to the PRM. This decision was reached after discussions between myself, Alison Petch and Gali Beiner. [EC 'DCF 2004-2006 What's Upstairs?' 20/1/2006]
