- Description
- Small sample of a cotton textile consisting of green, red and white flecked vertical stripes, separated by much narrower multicoloured stipes. [JP 26/8/2004]
- Long description
- This is one of 16 samples of approximately the same size but each differing in colour and design. They were contained within an envelope (now in the related documents file) on which is written in blue ink: " Ewe cotton samples - 17 [sic. only 16 found at time of accessioning] pieces. Most of these cloths and floating inlay medallions [NB. this refers to Ewe cloths in general not these samples] woven into them at irregular intervals. I can order one to have these, which would look the best. This is only a random choice out of 300! V.F. [then in pencil:] c. £15 per cloth with medallions." [JP 25/8/2004]
