Description
Carved ivory figure of a woman and deer? and snake.
Long description
Roughly conical ivory carving. A kneeling woman is carved at the top section of the object. The woman is naked and has her hands placed on her chest above her breasts. Below the woman is a ?deer or other quadruped hanging from a pole by its legs which have been strapped to the pole. Below the animal is a snake. The base of the object is flat and has been carved and inscribed with the monogram or initials 'CB' or 'BC'. This device may be the signature of the carver or perhaps of the owner.
