- Quiver, part of a complete suit of Japanese armour. [MOBB [OPS move] 31/8/2017]
- Long description
- Quiver of lacquered wood. Cylindrical quiver with ridge along the front, slightly narrows to a neck and then slightly expands at the top. There is a gold circle within which is a flower consisting of five solid circles around a pointed petalled centre, towards the bottom. The opening, which is oblong, is on the front of the quiver towards the top. A leather strap painted gold with red details is attached to one side of the opening via a metal loop. There is a thicker leather strap, similarly painted which wraps around the quiver below the opening and is secured with a metal boss and loop. A leather handle attaches to the side of this strap and to a green plaited cord ending in tassels. [MOBB [OPS move] 31/8/2017]

- Research and responses
Note that some of the Japanese items are marked as being obtained by J. Cole Hartland and donated via his brother Edwin Sidney. It seems hard to believe that the other items from Japan were not also obtained by J. Cole Hartland. Note that there is no evidence to date that Edwin Sidney Hartland ever visited Japan [AP 16/2/2009]
