- Research and responses
This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in December 2010. He noted that the spellings in the Accession Book Entry are incorrect and that the panorama is of Riusenji, not Swa jinja. [SM 17/12/2010]
The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2012 as: “Shinhu Nishi Chikuma-gun Uematsu mura aza Nezame Urashima kyuseki Rinsen ji no zu”, Urashima’s awakening place in Shinshu. “Meiji 17nen 2gatsu 22nichi shuppan”, Published on 22 February in Meiji 17 (1894).
