The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2011 as: ‘Kumamoto kyu jo nanmen no zu’, South side of the old Kumamoto castle. ‘Meiji nijusan nen ichigatsu insatsu’, Printed in January 1891. [El.B 16/03/2012]
