Red pottery lid. This object is conical in shape with a small perforated handle to one side and with a triangular finial in the centre. Long description
Lid to go with large coffee pot made of red unglazed clay. Painted. [RJ 12/3/2003] Description added by [RJ 12/3/2003] - Lid for coffee pot. Conical with an arrow-shaped peak and a ridge with two peaks in it leading to the hinge that attached it to the pot (2003.11.15 .1) The lid slots into a groove on the handle of the pot (2003.11.15 .1) There was once a rod of wood, or something similar, which slotted through two holes in the groove and a hole in the lid to make a hinge. Whatever hinged the lid to the pot (2003.11.15 .1) has been lost now and they are seperate. The lid is decorated with some vertical stripes of red paint.
