Description
Reed fan with design of 2 animal heads.
Long description
Reed fan with design of 2 animal heads. The fan is made of interwoven strips of reed plant, the weaving is in three distinct styles. The largest section from the base of the fan to the middle is woven to leave a 'diamond' pattern of diamonds approximately 15 mm square. Above this is a section woven into large scale zig-zags, above this band the remaining area of the fan is woven to create an impression of small diamonds. These smaller diamonds are approximately 8 mm square. At the top of the fan - at its widest end - there are two horse-like animal heads, facing inwards towards each other. Between these animal heads are six raised points along the edge of the fan. Along two sides of the fan, extending down from the 'ears' of the animal heads to the narrowest end of the fan are series' of loops made from the interwoven lengths of reed. [LKG 27/08/2009]
