- Long description
- Textile band with applique designs for holding a bell around a horse's neck. The band consists of a background of bright red wool textile with applique glued/ designs of turqoise, green and yellow woollen textile. There are eight applique designs in total. These are all edged with undyed string which has been stitched to the background and the applique section. The applique designs include the endless knot design and also two Chinese 'Shou', longevity, designs. The band is backed with a section of pink wool textile with green stripes, which looks as if it may possibly be cut from an old blanket. The blanket appears to be felted on the top surface. The whole band is edged along its length with bright blue cotton textile which has been stitched by machine. At one end of the band is a loop of red braid which has been sewn on by hand with black cotton yarn. [MdeA 31/5/2002]
