According to Stephen Goldsmith of World Art, from whom the Museum shop acquired them, these are known as 'love letter envelopes'. They are made by Christopher Kashiri, probably being printed with hand-cut rubber stencils. There are some 20 designs in all. They are sold on the streets of the western suburbs of Bulawayo by Christopher's son Shumirai Dedication, who has been selling them since he was five years old (he was aged 12 in 1995). He displays them to in a cardboard rack hung round his neck.
