Research and responses

This medal is described as "Aztec," but it is actually a reproduction of the "Chinkultic disc"— a Maya ballcourt marker from the site of Chinkultic in present-day Chiapas, Mexico. Here is an image of the original monument: https://www.mesoweb.com/features/jpl/48.html. Information provided by Dr. Andrés Bustamante Agudelo, Julia de Lacy Mann Fellow at Merton College, University of Oxford.
