Description
Wooden block for printing wallpaper. [BS [OPS Move] 13/7/2017]
Long description
Wooden block for printing wallpaper. The block is rectangular in shape and consists of three layers of planks of wood and a layer of intricately carved raised wooden designs which have been nailed onto the upper layer of wood. The wood is dark in colour and the nails appear to have rusted badly. The carved designs have broken in places. The block has the number 760 carved into one edge which is presumably the pattern number. [BS [OPS Move] 13/7/2017]

Research and responses

This block is as likely to have been used in England as in any other part of the British Isles and I have therefore included it in the English ethnography project [AP 25/07/2006]
