Description
Decorated wooden dao carrier with blue and red woven belt. [SM 27/02/2007]
Long description
Decorated wooden dao carrier with blue and red woven belt. The wooden carrier is incised on one side with two rows of inward facing, acutely angled triangles filled with cross hatching, each with a small circle on the top. There are 10 triangles on one row and 17 on the other. A zigzag pattern runs down the centre and there are two incised trapeziums also filled with cross hatching are on either side of the triangle rows. A belt is threaded through the carrier. It is decorated with a woven chevron and diamond pattern in red and blue. The braids are made of bands of colour, including blue, red, yellow and black with small red pompoms on the ends.
