Description
Dao [.1] with flared single edged blade and wooden handle bound with cane, in a wooden sheath [.2]
Long description
The blade has a partial stamp that reads "LLS" "No6". The handle has a brass hook screwed into the butt. This was presumably added when the object was displayed. The sheath is shaped like a bow tie (flared at both sides and narrow in the centre) It has been hollowed out through the centre for the blade to pass through it and has a carved hole on either side with a piece of string tied through them and knotted around the handle of the dao.
