- Pistol-tinder-box. True pistol form. Brass body with brass barrel with iron mechanisms, mountings and legs. The brass butt is engraved with the head and front quarter of a deer which is surrounded by decorative scroll and foliage designs. The pistol mechanism is iron, although the hammer is missing. Inside of the barrel is a candle-socket of iron, which springs into position when the trigger is pulled, at the same time the decoratively carved iron plate on the bottom springs open to function as a foot.
