The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2010 as: (Cover) “Origami ni-tsu”, Two sheets of folded paper. (Inside) “Shogun-ke hyakuban utaawase”, 100 matches at the poetry competition hosted by Shogun “Asukai dono Masachika kyo”, Lord Masachika of Asukai. *”Utaawase” is a poetry competition between two groups. It was popular in Heian and Kamakura periods (9th to early 14th century) [El.B DDF Body Arts Project 2010/2011 13/10/2010]
