Research and responses

The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2010 as: (Outside) “Kanpei taisha, Yamato no kuni ichinomiya, Omiwa jinja ryakuzu”, Map of Omiwa shrine, the principal shrine in Yamato province

(Inside, top right corner) “Yamato no kuni, Shikinokami-gun, Mimoro-yama, Chinza, Kanpei taisha, Yamato no kuni Ichinomiya, Omiwa jinja ryakuzu”, a map of Omiwa shrine, the principal shrine in Yamato province, based in Mt. Mimoro in Shikinokami-gun, Yamato. (Inside, top left) “Sessha juichi sha, massha jugo sha”, 11 sessha, 15 massha. (Both “sessha” and “massha” are attached to and ruled by a main shrine. Sessha is ranked higher than massha) [El.B DDF Body Arts Project 2010/2011 13/10/2010]
