- Research and responses
This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in November 2008. He noted that this object was from the nachisan schrine in Kumano. He identified the circular shaped object at the top of the paper containing the Sanskrit character as a "hoju". Hoju's are holy globes. The Sanskrit character is "Kiriku", which is associated with Kannon. [SM 04/12/2008]
The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2009/2010 as: “Aikei no omamori”, Amulet for love and respect. [El.B 19/01/2010]
