Research and responses

Notes written on database printouts by Professor Itaru Chijiwa (Kokugakuin University) during a research visit, November 2009, transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn when volunteering at the Museum in 2019: ''In the scroll, it says “Saigoku dai-ichi fudasho, Kii no kuni Kumano Nachi-san” (Kumano Nachi in Kii province, the first temple for the pilgrims to get an amulet in western Japan. It also shows 33 images of kannon from the temples for the pilgrimage. ' [JMC 10/7/2019]
