Research and responses

This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in November 2008. He queried the Accession Book Entry which states the name "oyama" being the name of a shrine in Sada. In his opinion, the amulet is not from Sada, but is from Hoki Daisen in Tottori Prefecture [SM 04/12/2008]

The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2009 as: “Hoki no kuni” - Hoki region (present Tottori prefecture). “Daisen Okumiya omamori” - Amulet from Daisen Okumiya shrine. [SM 07/04/2009]
