This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in November 2008. He noted that the object was from shimae Prefecture. [SM 04/12/2008]
The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2009 as: Written above the snake: “Sata jinja” - Sata shrine. Written below from the left to the right: “Suinan yoke mamori” - Protection from drowning; "Ryujin kanno omamori fuda” - Amulet from the dragon god; “Kasai bogo” - Protection from fire.
