The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2009 as: “Tahara jinja gokito o-tamagushi” - Tamagushi for prayer from Tahara shrine. “Tamagushi” is a sacred evergreen twig to be offered at an altar. [SM 07/04/2009]
