- Research and responses
This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in November 2008. He stated that the spelling "Hichimen-daimyojin-shugo" that is written on the front is an indication that it was initially transcribed by a person in the Tokyo region, as it is pronounched "hichimen" in the Tokyo region and "shichimen" elsewhere. He also noted that this object has the same central inscription as 1908.82.84. [SM 20/11/2008]
The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2009 as: “Shichimen daimyoujin shugo” - Protection from god of Mt. Shichimen. [SM 20/04/2009]
