- Long description
- Tinder box containing palm scurf tinder. Cylindrical tube of bamboo, hollowed with one end closed off. The outer surface is elaborately carved with alternating bands of scrollwork arranged in triangles. Filled with powdered palm scurf. See 1938.35.695 .2 for the lid. [BS [OPS move] 6/9/2017]

1966.3.39.1Dark wooden base of a pair of travelling candlesticks which screw together to form a carved, round box. This base is round and heavily carved. The exterior is decorated with bands of concentric circles, cross-hatching and diagonal lines. The interior is fully grooved in concentric circles.
