- Shield. Wicker and roughly oval in shape with one end being slightly larger than the other. Some dark brown plant fibre and lighter brown plant fibre tightly woven to make patterns. Handle in the centre of the shield made from plant fibre. [ASh [OPS move] 27/7/2016]

Note that there were no original accession book or card catalogue entries, for whatever reason this object was not listed in the original accession book exercise in the 1920s. The handle is made from plant fibre, and set horizontally, and seems too flimsy for weight of shield. The black pigment decoration is the same on front and back. The sides of the shield are parallel and not wider at one end or another
