Note that the four figure number is not given in the accession book entry. Note that Bowden gives the dates for Pitt Rivers' obtaining objects from the Thames Gravel Terraces around Acton as January to June 1869 [Bowden, 1991: 73]. However, there are several objects from Acton dated July 1869 as well. There are also objects dated 1870 and 1871. [AP Leverhulme project on founding collection 1995-1998]
A "worked flake" from Acton, High Terrace Gravels was among the 90 items sent to the Australian Museum in 1950 according to the list in accession book XIII, p.155. There are several entries that match this description and it is not possible to narrow this down further. Although the exchanged item was noted as having the collection number 877, only a pottery entry matches this. See [1950.2.3 - 93] for items received in exchange. [CF 23/6/2000]
